Eligibility
- The competition is open to participants aged 14 and over.
- The organiser may ask for proof of age at registration.
- For participants under 18, all parent/guardian consent rules required by the event organiser apply.
Cosplay
- Costumes can be inspired by characters from video games, anime, manga, films, series, comics and other works of fiction.
- Original characters are allowed too.
- Costumes can be handmade, significantly modified or bought.
- Group cosplay is allowed, but every participant signs up separately.
Costume and conduct
- Nudity and sexually explicit costumes are not allowed.
- Costumes must be appropriate for a public event.
- Offensive, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate costumes and performances are not allowed.
- All participants are expected to behave appropriately and respectfully towards other competitors, organisers, judges and visitors.
Props and safety
- All props must be safe to use and carry at the event.
- Real weapons are strictly forbidden.
- Replica weapons and other props must comply with venue rules and applicable regulations.
- Working projectiles, explosives, hazardous substances and other dangerous items are forbidden.
- The organiser decides whether a given prop is allowed.
Prejudging – costume judging
- Before going on stage, every competitor takes part in prejudging with the judges.
- During prejudging the judges inspect the cosplay and talk with the participant about the costume, how it was made and the process behind it.
- Costumes made by hand or significantly modified by the competitor score higher in the craftsmanship and creativity category.
- For bought costumes, only what the competitor made, modified, finished or personalised themselves is scored.
- Simply buying a ready-made costume earns no extra craftsmanship points.
- When scoring, the judges consider:
- quality of construction and finish,
- level of detail,
- complexity of techniques and materials used,
- amount of own work,
- creativity,
- likeness and interpretation of the character,
- overall look of the cosplay.
Catwalk and stage performance
- All registered cosplayers must take part in the catwalk.
- Every participant gets to present their cosplay to the audience and judges on stage.
- After the catwalk, participants may give a short stage performance.
- A stage performance may not last longer than 2 minutes.
- The catwalk and stage performance also count towards the overall cosplay score.
- Performances must be appropriate for a public gaming event.
- Nudity, sexually explicit content, dangerous stunts and forbidden props are not allowed.
Final score
Each competitor's final score is made up of:
- 1.Prejudging – quality, construction, detail, creativity and interpretation of the cosplay.
- 2.Catwalk – presentation of the costume on stage.
- 3.Stage performance – character interpretation and stage presence.
When scoring craftsmanship, costumes made by hand or significantly modified by the competitor take precedence, as the time, effort, skill and creativity put into making them are especially valued.
The organiser will publish the exact scoring system and category weights before the competition starts.
Prizes
Prizes are awarded for the top three places:
- 1st place: Main prize + certificate
- 2nd place: Second-place prize + certificate
- 3rd place: Third-place prize + certificate
The exact prizes will be announced before the competition starts.
Disqualification
A participant may be disqualified for:
- nudity or sexually explicit content,
- using forbidden or dangerous props,
- harassment or inappropriate behaviour,
- deliberately damaging the venue or other people's property,
- giving false information at registration,
- not following instructions from the organiser or staff,
- exceeding the allowed performance time,
- breaking the general rules of the gaming event.
Decisions of the organiser and judges
- The organiser and judges have the final say on participation, costume and prop safety, rule violations, scoring and prizes.
- The goal of the competition is a fun, creative, safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and visitors.
By signing up for the competition, participants accept these rules and the general rules of the gaming event.
